Wow. I tried to buy Aziz tickets exactly at 10, and by the time I had entered my credit card info, the presale was sold out. Guess I’ll try again on Friday. At least they’re not assigned seats.

My laptop is back! The keyboard is kind of funky still, but it’s on, and that is more than I hoped considering the weird sizzling sounds it made yesterday before it powered down and wouldn’t come back.
Thank you for all the get-well wishes. Obviously the good vibes did the trick.
I spilled tea all over my laptop. Of course this happened. I shouldn’t drink tea anywhere near my laptop, because I’m a horrible klutz, and it was just a matter of time. Except, how do people use a computer without a hot beverage? I don’t understand how that works. Anyway, the laptop is currently opened up and, I hope, air drying. We’ll see how that goes.
The point of this post is that I might not be on online much for the next few days, since I have to share the other computer in the house with other people.

I’d be really interested to see how something like this would play out Something similar to this happened in my town, and I’d be interested to see how the show handled it and Leslie’s reaction to it
Really? That’s interesting. I’m curious what happened.
I was really just joking, though. I guess to be fair, the city has saved itself a lot of money due to the fact that her boyfriend had to resign in disgrace and they haven’t replaced him yet.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if Leslie was elected to the City Council, only to find out there was no money for her dog park or trash can plans because the city already spent it on hiring her an assistant and paying someone to fill in for her while she ran for City Council?
Just got an email from my husband.
Subject line: Why, Rose? Why couldn’t you just stay in the lifeboat?
Message: My goal today: make Erika wonder who she married. To that end: just spent 5 minutes enjoying “My Heart Will Go On” — I apologize for nothing!
I get why the writers are pairing up Ann and Tom. Ann’s difficult to write storylines for; Chris and Andy are her exes, April hates her, Ron barely tolerates her, and Leslie’s wrapped up in a Ben/campaign bubble. But I think Ann could have interesting story lines with Tom without bringing in…
Dave uses the word “romantical” in his talking head. Andy used that word when confessing his feelings to April in Freddy Spaghetti.
Tom was awful last night, I didn’t like any of it, and I’m not going to make excuses for his behavior, but can we talk about Ann for a second?
I liked the idea of them in theory, but if she doesn’t like him, she shouldn’t date him, for her sake, yes, but also for his sake. This stuff where she’s leaving the door open to the possibility of spending more time with him (she doesn’t explicitly shut him down until late in the episode) while continually acting like she can’t stand him and is embarrassed by him—that’s a crappy way to treat someone, even when that person is Tom. He was excited about it and wanted to tell his friends right away; she appears to be dreading it and wants to hide the fact they went on a date. He’s not the only one in the wrong here, and I don’t want to see this storyline if it’s going to be about Tom pushing himself on her and Ann acting like she’s lowering herself to be with him. Ann should be with someone she likes. And Tom should be with someone who likes him.
I wish that when she had asked him, “Why do you have to be you?” he had been a little pissed off or hurt about that. “If you don’t like me, say so, and I won’t bother you again. This wasn’t my idea.” I ship Ann/backbone, but I also ship Tom/backbone.
Do the men of this show just hate women tonight?
I mean, Leslie didn’t fall for it with Dave but Ann falls for it with Tom? Gross.
MEN: listen to the WORDS women say and RESPECT THEM.
Can I just take a moment to express how much I loved the line “This is the woman I’ve chosen to love”? Because. Yes. Chosen. That’s exactly right. That’s exactly what real, true, mature love is. Love isn’t about “falling” into anything. It’s not about soulmates or destiny or “the…
I want to finish this draft of my WIP chapter this weekend. The one I’ve been struggling with for months. The one that maybe three or four people remember is a thing that exists. And I’m announcing this on tumblr so that there’s some kind of accountability. It’s going to happen! Everybody cross your fingers and send me good writing vibes.

I was thinking about that too. I like to think they’ve had conversations about this.
Someone write the fic. WRITE IT.
Okay. I tried. Gratuitous sappiness after the cut.
I find it interesting that Ann was putting on makeup and using a curling iron in her car before meeting Tom. She was at least taking this seriously enough that she did that. For Tom.

Tom tries his usual thing, Ann shoots him down, but also smiles because he is endearing. After some stops and starts he gets that he can be himself. When I think of Ann/someone I always think of her as that person’s safe place. As you are type thing
Interesting observation. I like it.
Now the question is - what does Ann see in Tom?
Well, she said she wants someone nice and funny who likes her and treats her well, and as April pointed out, Tom could be everything on that list. He is funny, and he makes Ann smile—that is huge. Everyone wants to be with someone they enjoy being around. And he adores her (or he would if he thought he had a chance with her). And I think he would treat her well too. He probably goes over the top in romance in the same way he does everything else. He plans things, over-the-top things. He’s a little like Leslie in that he’s passionate and ambitious and gets carried away sometimes, and I think Ann is attracted to that quality.
Tom is not perfect, but I don’t know if Ann wants the perfect mature stable guy. I think of Ann in The Master Plan drunkenly saying how much she loooooooooved Andy, the epitome of immaturity. And the thing she said she was missing in her relationship with Mark is that they didn’t fight. Ann likes a little friction. Tom’s a good guy, and I can’t see him taking advantage of her in the way that Andy did, but he’s just ornery enough that they’d keep that spark.
- Leslie: Yes, but I have to tell you something. Chris and Ann are on a secret date. Which is crazy because he's her boss, which is the exact situation we were in except we were put on trial for it and I know I'm not suppose to care and I should let it go, and we should just go have a romantic dinner ...
- Ben: No, we have to catch them in the act. Right now.
- Leslie: Really?
- Ben: Yeah. Screw romantic dinners, let's go rub it in their face.
- Leslie: God, I love you so much.

FEEEEEELINGS too. I ship Ann/backbone before I ship anything else…but if they take this slowly and let Tom work (and Ann too) at it with a sense of humor then I think I might really like it.
Yes! I think that’s the key, that they take is slowly, and Ann’s still very skeptical, and if Tom really wants it he might have to step it up a little, because Ann/backbone very much has a place in her dynamic with Tom. But he will make her smile, and slowly win her over … and bells will be ringing …
Just watched and am squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeing so hard now over Tom and Ann. I can’t even help it. It’s happening. At a snail’s pace, which is as it should be, and April set it up, because he made her smile, which is always how I thought they would be, and I am feeling a lot of feelings right now.
This is for Caitlin. It’s not exactly future Tom/Ann like you requested (or at all future Tom/Ann haha)… it’s sort of meta through fic.
I don’t know if I could have phrased that any more pretentiously.
But anyway, here’s a seriously unpolished drabble thing in defense of Tom and Ann. I apologize for any weirdness because it’s rather late here hah.
